What counts as what
Clinical means direct or close patient contact: CNA, EMT, medical scribe, patient care tech, hospice volunteer, ER volunteer. Shadowing is observation only - following a physician through their day without a hands-on role. Volunteering covers non-clinical community service. Research is lab, clinical, or data research hours, paid or unpaid. Totals are estimates from your weekly average - for the hours that go on your actual AMCAS Work & Activities entries, log real dates and keep notes as you go.
